Default Finally finished my first carving

It took me awhile but I finally finished this pendant. It is the first of many (I hope lol)

Thank you! It is made of red oak from home depot. I like the wood grain. I'm going to find some walnut and cherry for my next ones.

Agree, it is very nice. Neat clean cuts on that lovely oak wood. All in all excellent job!

I was just thinking the same thing, Mark. Very nice piece, rz. If that is your first piece, I can't wait to see what you produce when you have been at this a while.....

If you want to try something a little different material, get some tagua nut and make some pendants from that. It's the seed of a palm tree and is the closest thing to ivory in texture. It is hard as a rock though. I have seen some really nice jewelry made from it. Some wood carving suppliers sell them.
