Default A few things, more or less done...

I am putting this image here because I am a beginning carver and I didn't want to bump CarverRog's wonderful spiral off the top of the "New Pieces / WIP" category.

It's a chip carved & stained (too darkly, me thinks) plate, a little architectural piece and a small turtle.
I've got some other pieces too that are all in various stages of completion.
I'll try to get something else up in the next few days.

Thank you for the forum, advise & feedback.
All the best,

Russ

For a beginning carver you have a set of tools that would make an old carver salivate.

TW,

Yeah, I know.
My tools outstrip my abilities...At least this way I can never blame my tools when something doesn't go the way I think it should.

Excellent work Russ!

Your chip carved plate looks great to me and I was also watching to see if that turtle would start moving, it sure looks life like!

Thank you all for the encouragement.

All of these are done in basswood.
The plate is with Deft spray, stained with a Minwax stain called "Provincial" and finished with several buffed out coats of Johnson paste wax.

It turned out a bit darker than I wanted so the next one will be with something lighter.
