Hi Ive not been carving long and live in the south east of England. I wanted to go to a few classes and enter some competitions to give me something to work towards but there doesn't seem to be a lot in England especially anywhere near me. so i was just wondering if anyone knew of anywhere around the south east, or of any other contests around the world that allow you to send in photos, as they do on this, rather than having to attend personally? You might look for the UK publication "Woodcarvers Magazine". Here is a link to their website Woodcarving - The Woodworkers Institute They sent several free samples to my carving club and I bet you can find some useful info there also. Welcome aboard!

Hello! I think most of the contests in wood carving would definitely want the carver to be personally attending the competition for the reason of culture exchange and integration. It is like a summit for wood carvers, which I think is quite fun. The main problem for someone to attend such is the financial capability. What I can suggest to you is that you would look for some people to sponsor you in any wood carving event around the world and through them you will be informed as to what contests need you to be physically present or not. |
