I picked up this photo on the internet, just to show the shape of the dimond bit. The three tapered bits on the left of the picture are the ones I use. Larger ones for larger feathers, but the sizes in the photo are the most commonly used

Francesco, Very nice for your first attempt!! Here are a couple pointers for your next eagle. Always have reference on hand before you carve. Even the great carving masters had reference. The vein of the feather is "always" at the highest point of a feather. Try softening the edges of the feathers a bit, this will create flow of the feather pattern. Mix up the feather a bit. Don't be afraid to veer from the pattern a little(within the limits of your reference) this will make this pattern your own and more original. Last but not least HAVE FUN!!! carving!

Nothing wrong with that eagle. So maybe the feathers aren't 100% accurate, but you certainly captured the spirit and attitude of the eagle. Good job!

Falconer , I understand your intention , I post my work to understand my error.
I know that the feather are not good, I'm auto-didact and I think that forum are like teacher .

It's only two mounth that I start to carve, and this forum give me a great help.
