Hi Everyone, As a beginner carver, I've been carving on a piece of spruce wood I have bought from Home Depot just to try things out. But if I want to carve on some different kinds of wood, where can I get them? (Preferably free ones) Any suggestions? |

Home Depot or most any hardware store should have pine, it is a cheap wood and easy to carve. Look for Cedar or Basswood also at the carving supply places in your area. Hope this helps.

well there are many places to get wood. some is better than others. however if you are looking for free,,, then i'd have to say you need to get into the woods. found wood can be fun to carve however there is prep work needed sometimes before you carve. id recomend you to carve a good quality wood, more often than not, i've used less desired wood and wasn't happy with the results. but what ever you deside to carve be safe and have fun.

You might try a sawmill on your area (if there are any). Depending on what they cut you can sometimes get off fall for cheap or free.
