i'm having problems getting a good edge on my crook knife, any advice folks......mack

Mack, not sure if this is what you are refering to YouTube - Sharpening some spoon carving tools. You will need to fast forward to mid way or so thru the video. Hope this helps.

I thought a crook knife was used to trim horse hooves or maybe thats a crooked knife im not sure.

Bring a Carving Hook Knife to a Razor Edge Sharpness.
try this
I guess you weren't talking about the knife used for horse hooves.

You would sharpen a hoof (farrier's) knife the same way.
Hoof knives ars great woodcarving tools.
