| I'm almost finished the carving that I'm working on right now and I've started thinking about finishes, but my project is going to be around flame and I know that most finishes are quite flammable. Is there anything out there that I could use where combustability wouldn't be a huge problem? |

Once the solvents have evaporated off in the drying process I don't think the finish will be a big problem. I would suggest using some scraps for testing whatever you plan to use. Some woods really don't take stains all that well. What may be a bigger problem for you is the wood drying out from the heat. Perhaps a non-drying oil like linseed oil may help prevent the carving from cracking or becoming brittle. Dan |
