Question Chain Saw Bear Carving Info

Question 1

how do you carve in fur on bears with the chain saw without going in too deep or too harsh, or would you have to use another tool to make finer cuts ( without using a V gouge) ?

Question 2

where would I find carving patterns for chain saw carving of bears.

thanks for your help

John

Exclamation Re: Chain Saw Bear Carving Info

To carve the hair on a bear with a chainsaw, I first draw some pencil lines to indicate the direction the hair should be going in that location. The actual carving is done with the 'corner' at the end of the bar. Hold the saw at an angle to the surface and wave the bar in short strokes. It's almost like tapping or hacking with the saw tip.

I've attached a step by step image for carving a bear.
