| | Re: center line finder just saw one a few minutes ago in a harbor freight catalog, woodcraft, rockler..I guess about all woodworking suppliers have them...usually a piece of clear plastic sits on the end of a round piece of wood and has a line down the center...thus center finder....'ain't these yankees ingenuitous tho'!! lol : |

| | | Re: center line finder Hi-Ho: I read the same article, and had the same question. The only 'center line finder' I was familuar with is the ones like you mentioned. I didn't think they would work on an egg, that is what he is using it on, so kind of forgot about it. I'll dig one out and try to get it to work. Maybe he was using it as a measuring/marking device? The egg Santa he demo'ed on was kind of cute.

| | Re: center line finder OK I had not seen Tim Berry's site...and the centerfinder I was talking about is obviously different! the divider shown on there, I saw in a catalog, something like 'Highland Hardware' or somewhere and it was used upright as a divider..umm multiple uses? The reason I noticed it, was that I could make one, use it for a divider and tighten it so it wouldn't move like my cheapie divider! And it can also be used as a scribe for fitting a board or panel to a rough surface, like a rock fireplace etc. So....what I am seeing is this little tool that we can make can be used for a lot of different things...love that!! |

| | Re: center line finder Thanks Ken
thats what was pictured partially in the tutorial.the site you mentioned shows it clearly.
looks like something i can make and would be very helpful not only for finding the various lines for the levels in a caricature but also to locate the eyes on duck and bird carvings. |

| | | Re: center line finder You can purchase a center finder from Larry Yudis at the Woodcraft Shop. I purchased mine from Danny Reb in Sherman,TX. Larry has it listed on page 51 in his catalog Center Guide item #316203 price $6.95. If I can answer any more questions please feel free to ask.

| | | Re: center line finder I could be wrong, but (and I usually am) that looks more like a reference line marker than a center line finder.....?????????
