Default Carving Tool Charts????

I don't know if this is the proper term,but I'm looking for a picture chart that shows the physical size and sweep of a gouges.I seen a picture on youtube that shows a small gouge and sweep and the next size under it,then the next bigger size and sweep.I have afew of Pfiel gouges and would like to know the next size gouge and sweep.Thanks and I know that my descripition is confusing---Carroll

Woodcraft includes a chart on their website, and several carving books have them as well. If you can get one of Chris Pye's books, you'll find a good chart in it. Mike

I believe they are shown in Lee Valley's online catalogue.Pages 55 & 56.

Part of the difficulty is that Pfiel's sweeps don't follow the same standard the other manufacturers follow. The chart in Chris Pye's book is the London Pattern where #1 is a flat chisel, #2 is a skew, and #3 starts the shallow sweep gouges. Pfiel has #1 being both flat and skews and #2 starts with the shallow sweep gouges.

The question has been asked so many times that it may be the amount of information that could be confusing more than the lack of it...
