Default Carving snake walking stick

I haven't been able to find good pictures of snake markings for a walking stick & are there any helpful tools for this project? Haven't been carving that long, any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I really don't care what kind of snake. Copperhead, rattler? I have a stick with a curved top that I think would make a good snake. Just trying to find a good illustration. Thanks for your response.

I know this is a really old thread, but I was searching on David Stehly and found it. I saw one of his sticks and decided to do one. I have all of the big wood off and and ready to start on the detail. 5 cuts per scale!!!!!!!!!!!

But it's been a lot of fun for my 2nd carving. The first is still in progress (mountain man) and not very good. I thought that since anatomy wasn't my thing I'd do a snake...easy enough right? Better get that head right though or it'll be as sad as my mountain man.

I'll put some pics up when I get a little detail in.
