| | Re: carving egg heads??? Capt, there are a few Carving egg head book on the market. It would help if we knew which one. Most use hen eggs but the the same priciple is used for goose eggs also or even the smaller eggs.
Personally, I like my eggsscrambled with some bell pepper, onions, Ham and Tobasco sauce. |

| | Re: carving egg heads??? captgrant88, I think you will find that Mary Finn is using hen eggs which are about 2 1/2" tall , check with online woodcarving suppliers, I think most refer to their hen eggs as being 2 1/2" tall.
You might just look at Mary Finn's hands and gauge the height of the egg when she is holding it between her thumb and forefinger.
Neat book EH!
I always thought it should have a different title since it alocates so many pages to carving facial features on a practice stick...still a great informative book. .

| | Re: carving egg heads??? I love carving those eggs! In fact I through one in my suit case the other night for the trip to Creede to carve on my off time. I have carved the bantam(to small), hen, goose, ostrich, hope I spelled those right?, they even got one called the dinosaur egg, I have'nt seen that one yet but thier for sale at supply houses. Anyways I have found the goose egg to be my favorite to carve, the hen egg...just a little small but if you work with it enough you can make em work. I know the goose eggs are 3.5 -inchs and I get mine by the 50 count at .95 each at#1-800-323-0817.(Toledo OH.)
Check out my web site for some carved goose eggs, go to galleries then to ornaments and bottlestoppers.
