I am looking to purchase some carving chisels. I found a place that carries flexcut chisels. Looking for a supplier that has swiss made. Or any other place that has a good caving chisel for carving letters in teak. Thanks!

Look at this older thread: Knives or chisels for sign carving? It has some good information and sounds like something that you're looking for. Pfiel is the most popular Swiss tool manufacturer. Check out Woodcraft for a good (but costly) supplier. They generally have a better selection. You can then use that information in comparison shopping. Add: From Canada (usually better pricing): http://www.woodcarvingbiz.com/Pfeil.htm Last edited by Mitchell; 01-09-2006 at 04:40 PM. |

You can also check out www.littleshavers.com for Stubai (plus others). Smoky Mountain Woodcarvers is at www.woodcarvers.com and they have some tools also. There are many other brands that you can consider: Henry Taylor, Dastra, Ashley Ives, etc. Last edited by Mitchell; 01-09-2006 at 04:55 PM. |

Teak.....forget Flexcut, I would suggest. Stay with Pfiel, Stubai, Henry Taylor, etc., they would be a better choice for such hard wood. A Canadian supplier, www.leevalley.com or U.S. at www.traditionalwoodworker.com or www.chippingaway.com or www.sugarpinewoodcarving.com Lots of choices, have fun shopping. Bob
