Greetings, I have been unsuccessfully searching for some type of a collar to finish off the joint between the cane top I am carving and the cane/stick itself. Any suggestions? Can you make one? Thanks in advance! James |

That might work well if it is malleuable enough. Thanks! James |

Depending on the look you want, you could also use a decorative knot made of leather or even metal wire. Like this ![]() from Turk's Head Rings or this ![]() from Walking Sticks That what I do sometimes, and it looks better with smaller leather cord for a fancier look. Gilles |

Hi James The last cane I did I used a piece of Copper Tubing. I think it was an inch and a quarter long. Larry |

I actually know Loren, have taken his class, and made a silver turks head ring. That said, there is NO WAY I am spending that amount of time and effort for a collar on one of my sticks! The leather turks head looks like a good idea unless it is a "fancy" stick. Another option is to enhance the joint by using spacers of different colored wood, horn, simulated ivory, etc. making it part of the artistic statement instead of trying to hide it. |

Wow! Thanks guys for some great tips! I was actually thinking about wrapping leather but I wasn't sure if the look was right. I also thought about a spacer of sorts like Cliff mentioned but I wanted to but it instead of making it. Thanks again all! Blessings, James |
