Larry Yudis at The Woodcraft Shop carries a lot of books. He has a website http://thewoodcraftshop.com/ or you could e-mail him wdcrft@revealed.net or call 1-800-397-2278. I'm sure he has a few books that would get you started.

Another book I've just ordered from Little Shavers is Harold Enlow's 'Learning to Carve Expressions and Faces'. I couldn't believe the content! It has 12 (I think) projects, all caricatures, with step-by-step photos. One thing it has that I haven't seen in other books is it has men, women and children so you get a shot at doing all three (most seem to focus on men caricatures only). And it's self-published so it's only $6...it'll be the best $6 you spend if you're just starting out. The only place I've ever seen it is at littleshavers.com.

Have fun,
Brian

I second what ibrewalot said about Enlow's book. Just got around to looking at it last night and it's great. Another good one is 'Creative Wood Carving & Sketching' by Ross Orr. Same source. It's a bit pricier at $14, but a good addition to any reference library. If the Enlow book is caricature 101 this would be caracature 102.
