Default BIG Challenge Carving lions face into the arms of a couch

Hi there fellow wood carvers..... I got a big delima........My boyfriend bought a couple pf hideous goth looking red chouches thinking that they would look asian in our home.
I have seen nice antique replicas with the lions head or dragon head on the arm rests. I am temped to either
1. cut the face of the arm off try to find a chinese lion dog head stick it on with a dowel.
2. try to carve the round ball in front to look like a small chinese lion head.

3. my last option is to try to exchange the couches back for 750 dollars worth of crap in this store that I dont need.

Any suggestions?

Hello and welcome. I think you idea of carving a separate head and doweling it on is a great idea.

If you can post a photo of the couches, we might be able to offer some additional suggestions.
