I have only bought a few roughouts and bought them from http://www.beaverdecoys.com/products.htm won't say they are the best or worst, just happened to meet them at a carving show.

I am sorry for not giving enough info, it was past my bed time. LOL I am looking for both animals and people. I just finished my first carving and it was a frog. Not bad for my first one. I would like to say thanks to all that reply. Bryan

Do a search on Googl with the wording of wood roughouts. You will get a listing of wood carving sites that carry roughouts.

Bryan you could also do a search in Google Images for frogs (or whatever) and find one to your liking and draw it on a chunk of wood and start chipping away.

It's more work, but you would surely have a more unique finished product.

I would like to say thanks to all that have replied to my question. I found the best web page at texaswoodcarvers.com located in Spring Texas which is just outside Houston. Its only about 9 miles from my home and is a wonderful store. The owners name is Dallas and I am going to start classes on Sat. Their # is 1-800-752-9781 and he must have 100s of roughouts for all of us to enjoy. Thanks everyone for your help. Bryan

He is a good one to start with but there are a host of people and sites in the carving world. Rossiters at www.rossitersroughouts.com
www.littleshavers.com

Cottonwood bark from Art the Bark Guy and Rossiters.
Personally, I try several sites and people to find the best deals.
