I carved the ball in a cage out of white pine, and the chain links out of basswood. If there is anyone of you that need a stick of basswood let me know. There is a large cabinet shop near my house that uses alot of basswood and I can get all the 1" square pieces about 10" long that I want. Just let me know.

I may hit you up on that. I have about 7-1/2 feet of 1x1 to carve through. When that dwindles down I throw ya PM.

I carved a ball and cage and a chain back when I was a boy scout. It sure didn't look nearly as good as yours. Very well done.

Hello! I'm not quite sure how all this works, but, we'll see- I'm very new to woodcarving, I dabbled a bit as a child, but now I'd like to get back into it.... Does anyone recommend what kind of instruments and wood I should start out with?? Probably a softer wood? Thanks! -Heidi

Nice work. With those scraps you can make a very long study stick.
My first ball in cage was confiscated by my wife. I took it as a compliment.
