If I haven't already welcomed you, consider this a warm welcome. You've done a couple of very nice carvings. Even though I've thought about carving these two projects, I never got around to it. Probably spending too much time posting and not enough carving.

hey keith,

nice stuff man. on the caged ball, what did you use to remove most of the wood? knife, gouge?

both of those projects are on the docket for me as i'm starting out.

Both of those were carved out using a pocket knife. It takes a little more time that way, buy that is a good teacher in patience. Happy Carving.
