can someone recommend a beginners guide/book..maybe something with some tips & info and a few simple patters to follow....I am making contact with Little Shavers to order a beginners tool kit, and will need some guidance, and figured a book might help out a little....tks...Dennis

Hello Dennis, Welcome if I haven't done so already. When you talk to Rick about the beginner's carving set--great move btw, I have one--ask him about a book to start with. He sells books and he'll set you on a path to what you want to carve and get you started off on the right foot. Good Luck! Any questions come on back. Everybody pitches in to help here.

When you got him on the phone see if he still has this one "The Beginner's Handbook of Woodcarving" by Charles Beiderman & William Johnston It's one he used to recommend, and it's very good. Covers a lot of territory (and not real expensive either).
