Default beginner power carving videos

Have a new Foredom power cavering tool, would like to know if there are any good videos to get me acquainted with it.
How best to make use of this , as a tool to hog off excess wood or as a tool to do the detail.Would like to see in use in various projects like relief, characture, wildlife etc.It would be easier to learn if I could see it in the hands of a master.
[always wanted one of these, sure glad I got it, don't know what I,m going to do with it]

the Foredom is known as a power tool.. it is powered by electricity and it works really good for many things. But not for hogging out. too much wear 'n tear...

I use a chainsaw for hogging off wood but probably a little too big for the carvings you are doing although I have an 8 inch carving bar on a small chainsaw that works well. Have you tried the Arbortech Mini Grinder you can get rid of a lot of wood in a hurry with it especially with the carbide wheel.

The Foredom is an excellent tool. I have a 1/4 horsepower machine
and it is powerful enough to do all of my rough shaping. For roughing
out a carving I use a 1/4 inch shank Typhoon bit that is about 1 inch
in diameter. The Typhoon bits are made by Foredom. With smaller
handpieces you can also do detail work but the flexible shaft sometimes
makes detailing a little awkward.

For detailing I use a Ram Power 45. This is a high speed rotery tool
that has the motor inside the handpiece, eliminating the flexible shaft.
It rotates at up to 45000 RPM in forward and reverse, and has a surprising
amount of torque. The hand piece is only about 5/8 of an inch thick at the
point that you hold it, and about 1 1/4 inches thick at its widest. It is incredible how fine you can get the detailing with these tools.

Wayne,

I bought mine from the Woodcraft Shop in Bettendorf, IA. You can

You can also find out more about it on the Ram Power Tools site:
