If you do a "search" on the forum, you will notice that most people use burnt umber oil paint.

A good page to read is this one WWWoodcarver E-zine - Notes from the Net

I don't know the answer to that question, but i do know there is an antiquing acrylic you can buy that comes in the small tubes at Hobby Lobby,it is very thin and you almost just dry brush it on after you are done painting you carving.

I use a 50/50 mixture of Watco natural and dark waxes. Apply, let dry, then buff with a shoe brush. There are lots of options.

My favorite is burnt umber artist oil paint with BLO (burnt linseed oil). I think it gives a rich antique finish to a carving.
Another color is burnt sienna artist oil paint and BLO.

I like to squeeze out a pearl size dot of artist oil paint into a small plastic container is about 1/2 full of BLO. Then depending on which I need more oil paint or more BLO I can adjust how dark I want the antiquing to be. Most often I will add more BLO...left over antiquing mixture can be stored in a small clear plastic container that has a lid. Be sure and label so next time you know exactly which one you want.
I get my small containers at Hobby Lobby in the Art Department.
Be sure and clean your brush/s with turpentine or cleaner of choice. I like to use brush soap afterwards leaves my brushes nice and soft.
