Default antiqueing

a little confuse on antiqueing. As most of you review my anticaking the first go around shell we say a little Dark?

1) 3Qts of Lint seed oil. And 3” of raw umber

OR

2) Some say to use Lint seed oil and Raw umber, Mineral Spirits If we use Mineral Spirits How Much of each do I need to use?

3) This wash is to tone down the paint and give it a rich look

Please I do not to wind up with a 55 gal Drum.........

Bill, I think you mean "antiqueing", and if that's what you meant, I've read that a 50/50 mix of BLO and either turps, paint thinner or minersal spirits will serve as your medium, and add just enough of the colorant to get the tint you want. That's a pretty subjective number to add so try a few drops and keep adding till you get what you want.

Using this mix, you need only prepare the amount you will immediately use, not 50 gallons!!!

Maybe there are some others here who use these mixes regularly and they can give better advice.

Al

I guess I'm lazy but I just buy Plaid Antiqueing medium and use it. It comes in several colors so you can get just the effect you are looking for.
