Default Anticipation to start

Well after trying some stuff with a Dremel and with a standard Stanley blade utility knife I took the plunge and order myself a Kevlar glove, Starter set from Flexcut and the Strop as well. I managed to find a site where I can get some Lime Wood (which I found after loads of searching is what we call Bass Wood over the pond) and I have been watching Youtube videos like they are going out of fashion.

The Anticipation is killing me now though, can't wait to get started!!!

Keith

Don't rush it! Wait for the Kevlar glove to arrive and then you will enjoy yourself. Start of with one of Gene's videos, they are great and I wish I had them when I started.

I got both of my Kevlar gloves today so now I just need the knives and materials to come. I bought myself a matchstick model kit to do while I am waiting......idle hands and all that

What did you order? What kind of carvings do you want to do? Take a look at some of the starter projects - wizard and owl. They might be fun for you. Good luck.

I ordered some nice pieces of Lime Wood (Bass Wood) and I am looking at charicature carvings and probably children's toys for my disabled daughter. It is so hard to find things for her in the toy shops. I have been watching the Youtube Videos and I have a fair few ideas of things I might have a go at

Have fun, just don't wear the gloves while you are using the Dremel. Had mine get hung up and it spun out of control and almost broke my fingers! I'm waiting for some tools myself and the anticipation is driving me nuts or more so!
