| | Another step-by-step project done I just finished another project, it is a old-fashioned pine cone ornament.
The difference between mine and the old glass ones, children can't break mine. http://www.littleshavers.com/FreePatternProjects.html

| | Re: Another step-by-step project done I already bookmarked your page there Rick because I want to tackle the Pumpkin.... you make your tutorials so easy to follow.
Now if I just could find the money to buy your starter kit then I could branch out from Gouge Chip carving. (I cannot believe I said that because when I started 3 months ago, I figured I would do that and only that.... )
Keep up with these.... you rock.... or wood....

| | Re: Another step-by-step project done From Ricks site:
"Using a knife, carve down toward the center of the block; leaving enough wood to make the ornament stems. This is a slow process, but quite enjoyable for passing time while waiting somewhere."
Where do you carve while waiting somewhere? Don't you get chips everywhere? Is there a trick to doing it without making a mess? I'd love to figure out how to carve at my desk when it's slow without having to bring a vacuum to work. And I don't think my Dr. would appreciate me making a mess while waiting for him, although it might get me in sooner to see him that way.
Great project! Will definitely give this one a try after everything else.
Rick - you the man!
