Hello Dwhitt,
I live in Decatur, and have a carving club that meets on Saturday mornings, also there is a club in Huntsville. Drop me an email and I will give you all the info.

How is Cedar for carving? It seems to be a softer wood and I can get my hands on a good little pile of it.

Hello, Cedar is good wood for carving, a little brittle and very grain senstive but very good, I love to carve cedar driftwood!

There is a group in Albertville as well. Between Huntsville and Birmingham is a large piece of real estate.
