Looking good. Keep 'em coming. Spoons are great fun and not as easy to carve and some folks might think.

Thanks Terry I made another one today took about 6 hours but used a Hook knife for the first time to make the Bowl . MAN what a diffrence in the shaping to using a gouge It was more just a mess around than anything else I just wanted to see if I could work with the knife . Thanks again for looking and the kind words Cheers AL |

Those are great spoons, Al. Be careful, though. As Terry said, they're a lot of fun to carve. And I can attest that carving them is not especially easy. People do enjoy them, though.

You are definitely growing as a spoon carver, Al. That hook knife ought to make a big difference, allowing you to do different things. A lot of people concentrate too much on the handle design. Just remember, without the bowl, it's just a stick!

Jim and Mack Thankyou so much for the kind words Makes me want to carry on and do more kinda see where I go with them.Jim yer right about folks liking them I no sooner have one done and its gone! And up till now I would only put them in the back of the fire lol Mack Thankyou for that. The Hook knife belongs to a friend of mine but I cant see her getting it back anytime soon lol The way it carved the bowl I thought ok this one realy does look like a spoon and thanks for the advice the other day about looking at a steel spoon I have one hanging up on the wall of my workshop now To take pointers from. Cheers AL |
