Default Wayne Shinlever Class Santas

Here are the santas I completed in the Wayne Shinlever class a few weeks ago. I was lucky enough to only have one other person in the class so we had a lot of one on one carving together. Needless to say I have started utilizing his style of carving eyes that you will see in this and other posts. If you get a chance to take his class I would recommend it. It sure was a pleasure to spend two days with him!

Question Re: Wayne Shinlever Class Santas

Blake,

Good job. I had finished a Santa carving based somewhat on the DIY site showing a man carving a Santa. I had then found out it was Wayne Shinlever in the video clips showing how to carve one. I just need to paint it and then I'll post a picture. It is kind of like yours except I had changed some things such as the eyes cause I could not figure out how he did his.

I was wondering if you could explain how you had painted/finished the Santa? I like that look.

Those are awesome. I especially like the subtle, muted paint. One can still tell it is a carving...out of wood...not a casting.

I would like to know how you did that also.

great job!
