| | The start of my own Santa Collection Here are six of my Santa ornaments. The lil guy is a quick draw to fill up some wood scraps.
I used just a dremel and 1/2 inch pine boards. Hubby informed me we have over a hundred boards down in the barn I can use up. yipee.
Tonight I got smart.. (low and behold) and figured out a master pattern for a new santa style. With that one pattern I have drawn all sorts of outfits, beards and mustaches on it. So when I want to draw up another Santa, I can just pick and choose off this ONE pattern to have a new guy to work on. Tonight I have 8 outfits , three different sized beards and mustaches on this one pattern. I'm sure as I see a new idea I will add it to this pattern. LOL
Anyway.. heres what I have done so far with an old pattern I drew up last week. |

| | Re: The start of my own Santa Collection Marci, those are wonderful! I love the paint and the little differences in the same pattern that you did. You have the spirit for sure. The one with the bear is my favorite as well, but I do like all of them very much.
How big are they? In pine, if they're small, you are really getting a lot of detail!
Do some more!

| | Re: The start of my own Santa Collection Great looking Santas for sure. You have captured different Santas with one pattern. Outstanding. Love the Santa and Bear the most but the others are great also.
Keep up the great carvings. |

| | Re: The start of my own Santa Collection Thank you for the compliments. I do have to be clear tho.. these are not off the same pattern. This will teach me from posting so late at night when I'm not thinking clear. I should have said from some older patterns that I drew up last week.
The next batch of santa ornaments will all be from the same pattern. I have 8 of them cut out ready to dremel.
Do you know how sewers collect material for sewing?..Well ,we collect wood. LOL That dairy barn is a 30 stall barn..and most of the side walls are all stacked wood. From pallets to 'please come get this wood' to a pick up bed full of new but slightly blemished solid oak/hickory/cherry cupboard doors, unfinished. We used to have the milk house into a wood working room, but its too cold in there in the dead of winter. That room is stacked full of wood too.
Now, off to find that post from Ms. Irish on how she did her layers of finishing. I know I read it somewhere......
Thanks again. |

| | Re: The start of my own Santa Collection Nice job there Marci. The "scrap" is neat just because it took a little extra creativiity to finish it up. They all show that you have an artistic ability, and I believe that this will show through on the ones created from the same pattern that you mentioned. |
