Hi ho, I just recently started selling on e-bay. They have tutorials for you and anything else you might need. For small wood spirit carvings done in bark that can be done in half an hour, I did OK. At least it was better than what I can get for them here in western Ky. I know I still have a lot to learn about it and need to improve the pictures. If the next ones do as well I should have the camera I bought paid for.The hardest thing for me to learn was resizeing the photo's. Whittler

KyW,

Outstanding Santas. I too started selling on e-bay or I should say the little bride and I have. She does scrapbook layouts and cards and have been surprised at how much people are willing to pay for the stuff rather than maling it.

I have only sold a couple bark carvings on e-bay but I don't think I will do much in that area as the Craft shop keeps me plenty busy supplying my display there.

Anyways. Great looking stuff.

Well I think I have stated before on here that I personally do not care for E Bay
I have bought a couple of Items from E Bay though

I just got a dispute setteled that I had on E Bay
I was high bidder
I tried to contact the seller so I could send him his payment and pay for shipping
he never responded
Guess he did not like my bid $0.02
bu he had no minimum bid or reserve on the item

He then turned in a complaint against me that I would not pay
and E Bay put a strike against me for not not paying. Just got the strike removed.

My advice to anyone that is going to sell on E Bay.
1. set a minimum starting bid
2. have a reserve (minimum selling price)
3. if you accept a personal check, wait for it to clear before sending the item

Most of the sellers on E Bay accept Pay pal
I have no idea how hard it is get set up with them to accept pay pal payments or what all is involved

Personally I prefer money orders

Wayne P, I already learned the hard way about minimum bids. I sold a folk santa carving done in bark for 99 cents. I am still awaiting payment on that one and the other three they bought. They paid a fair amount for the wood spirits though so I can't complain.

The batch I have on there now has an increased amount for starting bid. A reserve is set, I simply am not going to ship an item for 99 cents plus shipping! I accept only money orders and paypal. I don't ship a thing for 48 hours after payment, they can always put a stop on payment .

I do see it as a good thing as well. I wouldn't have sold that many carvings in a week at the local consignment shops here. Not at this time of year. The best I do is four or five a month during hte tourist season. I am not in the best place to sell such work.

One fellow on ebay has been selling his carvings for six months or so and has built a following of buyers. He took in over two hundred dollars last week if he got paid for all of them. And he must be getting paid because he keeps adding new ones every few days.Whittler
