Hi Teri -- Just adding a hearty second to Shimmy's welcome. Sure glad you joined us. I first saw your URL on the Santa Collector's site a couple of days ago & was awe struck by your 'vision' and design. MY goodness. What style !! I'm SO very glad you'll be selling thru FolkWorks too. Maybe we'll meet in person there sometime? The November opening is a real hoot.
YOUR WORK IS AMAZING !!!

Good heavens, do you know my heart jumped when I logged on and saw that *I* WAS a topic - I thought, 'oh ****, I've made somebody mad' > (<--mad guy)

Thanks! YES, I do love this site and am glad you wrote me about it - thanks again for that (although these people MAY get sick of me).

Nancy, I've been to a couple of the openings at Folkworks - years ago, of course. I was introduced to them when they were first opening and did alot of cypress knee painted santas, etc. In fact, Cease owns my very first attempt at carving. I lived in that area for awhile in those years. It would be neat to meet you at some point there.

Thanks for the comments on my work!!

Teri

Hey Santacarving Lady, your work is AWESOME (to quote my teenager). Tell me about your painting techniques. The colors look vivid and three dimensional, not like a flat single color.

Thanks, Cap'n!! I use acrylics for painting, but alot of layers. I water the paint down and have to exercise alot of patience at letting each layer dry before applying the next. By the time the guy is done, and the winter scene is added (last), there are somewhere between 7 and 8 layers of color wash. It doesn't show so well in photographs, but most of the time you can still see the woodgrain through all the layers. It's time-consuming, but I like the way it looks. Thanks for liking it, too!!
