John:
They are really cute, nice carving do you paint them too? Or just leave just the natural color of the wood. Question: Are they generally made from basswood?

Very nice!! Great use of spools. What are you using for the top and bottom?

Super collection! I tried carving spools last year but gave up...the wood is so darn hard. Are these regular spools or basswood spools, and what do you use to carve them?

Hey! These are great! Have you tried carving them in graduated sizes and then stacked onto a dowel with a wheel glued to the bottom as a stand? Then I added a star on top. It took awhile to carve the dozen but was well worth the effort. Tina

John, Those are great I have bought about 200 old spools but have yet to carve much on them. Just not real sure how to do what I want yet.
