| | Re: Santa Ornament Hi Everyone, thank you so much for the nice compliments and positive feed-back on my first santa ornament. The paint job took a little longer as I decided to paint santa with oils. He's still drying and will be for several days. I plan to add an eye-ring hanger after he's good and dry. Will also give him a couple coats of either satin or semi-gloss varnish.
I still have the other half of the block to do another one. It's nice splitting the block the way Mark suggests then you get to make two santa's from one block.
I think I will go back in to the area between the cheeks and do some additional blending where the cheeks meet the bags under the eyes. I need a little better transition of color. Santa looks like he just came in from a blizzard with those bright cheeks. LOL
Thanks again everyone,
Kathy
If you haven't tried Mark Gargac's santa yet, put it on your list of things to do. I think you will enjoy! |

Hel looks very nice. I did one from Cotton Wood bark, maybe I'll post it.
The oil paint sure makes the color pop.

| | Re: Santa Ornament Hi Mel & GaryMc thank you both, I appreciate you coming back for my painted santa. The oil paint takes longer to dry and takes a little more patience. I really need to practice doing facial painting with acrylics. Much quicker especially if you have a lot of ornaments and a short time to get them done. LOL

| | Re: Santa Ornament Hi Bonnie, great to see you here! What ya been up to lately? Thank you, for the nice compliment and I did decide to not do any additional painting. I debated whether or not to go back in a paint a white trim on the hat. I need to practice skins tones using acrylics. Oil takes a long time to dry.
