Default Santa with a "kick"

This is my first attemt at a jointed carving. I drew the Santa directly on the wood. I didn't have a pattern or instructions for a jointed doll until I was almost done. He stands about 15 inches tall.

Let me know what you think and any way to improve it. I would like to do more.

The last one is Santa kicking up his heels.
Thanks for your insight
Wanda

Too funny Marci, I just posted an answer to your smoking question!

Thanks I worked and fussed on him a while trying to figure out how to do it. I told my husband that Santa was kicking my tush!

I can't give you any advice as I've never attempted this joinery type of carving but it sure is interesting. Sure did enjoy those pictures though... Thanks for posting!

Mark, I have looked in awe at your Santa's so a compliment from you is really special.

Dave, I am glad you enjoyed the picture trail.

Curt, I've always had a vivid imagination which sometimes got me in trouble, but with carving, that imagination can make people smile and sometimes even laugh.

I am considering entering him in a show. Is it good enough? Should I enter as a novice or just go general? I have been carving just under 2 years (with only an exacto knife) and just since Christmas with Flexcut knives and gouges.
