This guy is in progress..... The Jack part is carved but I have just begun to work on the box part. Earlier Jack In The Box pieces have been tree ornaments but I liked them so much I decided to try a shelf sitter. He is around 6 inches tall. I just traced the design on the box tonight and hope to start carving it in tomorrow. These photos were taken this morning so it doesn't show the design. He turned out fairly jolly so that's a good start.....

Ditto...your stuff is fun and gorgeous....great ideas and I still can't get the hair on mine to look like yours! I like how you did the fur also.

Very clever. Have you ever thought about putting him on a real spring? Great work as always.

Oh Nancy, you sound like my mom ......and I love you for it...LOL Thank you. Thanks Mike.... When I am not power carving, I use a very small v tool but most things I do now days have been power carved. I texture the hair with a white stone in the inverted cone shape. It's not hard but your fingers will cramp on you about half way through... Hi Lynn, thanks for dropping by. I have thought about using a real spring and might do it sometime. It would certainly be a lot less work and still look good...I think. Don't know til I try it. One of these days. Thanks again for the kind comments. |
