| | Santa Gourds I know its not carved but the site has supported Gourd art and I thought I would post one of our latest Santa Gourds. Anna got hold of some pretty good sized gourds and Pianted a Santa on one. He had an uneven bottom and I first had a dowel holding him up straight. Well old pegleg just didn't look right. So I grabbed one of the smaller gourds and headed for the work shop. Cut the gourd in half on the band saw(Scary) the proceded to grind away at them and before long I had Santa a new pair of shoes. Anna painted them black and put little holly buckles on them. This guy has caused so much trouble. The Shop that sells our stuff has people mad at each other because some one bought him and he was a one of kind. PLease Please I say for I am not a shoe maker. No more shoes on Santas!!!
PS, I have three more in the shop I putting shoes on, But I swear Im not doing anymore. I mean it. I'm not kidding this time!
Gotta go Anna just pulled up with a van load of gourds.
The Goody's
Harold & Anna

How about just carving a basic shoe shape platform you can set the gourds on? You may need to make a bowl shape above the shoes and carve out to custom fit each gourd.. but it would be quicker and probably heavier to keep the gourds from tipping? The just glue the gourd to the shoes after Anna paints them. How's that for some help to keep these Santa's in production? *grin* |

| | Re: Santa Gourds Anna is a VERY special, talented lady ..... You are a very lucky man.
Maybe you'd be a bit luckier if you bought a little scroll saw to cut the tiny things? I sure love mine. |

The other thing that everything is made from gourd makes it more unique. We will get thru it.
