| | Santa and the woodspirit (Chainsaw) Hi Gang,
I know it is not Christmas but as most of you know I am off in a couple of weeks to Campbell River, British Columbia, on Vancouver Island for the chainsaw carving competition. Yes we get to carve all week long right on the beach. This year I thought I might do something a little different so I decided to practice it in a little smaller log before I go. This is just the rough out I did today. It is out of a white pine log approximatly three and half feet tall and two feet in diameter. You can see I have a smaller version on it in the first picture sitting on the woodspirits head. I am thinking of calling the carving "Christmas Spirit". This is the first of two that I will do before I go. Now the log I will carve them in at Campbell River will be cedar and much larger. Now I say this is what I am carving this year but dont be sure I am prone to changing my mind at the last minute.
Let me know what you think of the carving and the theme. Your opinion is as always important to me. Oh BTW I havent finished the large tree carving yet I expect to finish up this week.

I really like the idea , but I think the wood spirit should be one of your woodspirit with a massive look of surprise that it is Santa making him come to life insted of you. Anyway will be a great carving !

Cute figures, I'm sure they'll be great when you're done!
Tell us all about this carving event, keep us up to date as you can, take some pictures. I'm hoping by next year that I'm foot-loose enough to make it to some of these events too! It'd be fun to spend a week carving with you.
