Thanks for the info, Arleen. I do wear a glove and thumb guard all the time. My glove is more of a mental crutch these days than a physical safeguard, as I've trained myself to be constantly aware of where the knife is going when it slips. What truly amazes me is how you and Gene can carve without a thumb guard.

A new thumb guard usually last me a month before I cut through it. I then wrap it with a few layers of good ol' duct tape, which lasts for another month or so...about every six months, I start over with a new thumb guard. You can see in the photo why I use one.

Many thanks for all the effort you put into the videos. These are a great help to new carvers who have nowhere else to look.
