And since I do value your suggestions, here's what I am doing this AM. It's either paint or rake leaves.....Yep! I got lots of these little buggers to do, but then I got lots a big trees too. Thanks again for the nice comments and suggestions.

i get tired of painting small items like this, so i stain them. i take some BLO, and mix any brand of colonial pine/maple/oak stain (pick a shade you like) with it, i would say about a 3:1 ratio, and stain. i finsih with a coat of feed-n-wax. i do this when i am to lazy to paint. actually, even the stuff i paint gets a coating of this mixture before painting...

I always prefer stained to painted, specially for what I carve, but these days I seem to paint more than before. It must have something to do with Xmas colors...

That said, I like the stained one better for my taste, but anything related to Xmas look better painted.
