Default Not So Original Santa

The body of this little Santa was inspired by a carving by Dave Francis but with a Cyndi Joselyn inspired face. I keep hoping the more I carve, one of these days, I'll come up with a distintive style of my own. I've learned a lot from Cyndi's book but I'm anxious to start coming up with my own idea's. Maybe I'm just not creative enough, I don't know, but I sure enjoy carving. Thanks for looking. ~ Joy

It's a very well done Santa, Joy .... very attractive.
I learned everything I know by copying Ron Ranson. All my first Santas were copies of his -- done from patterns in his books. I slowly "stretched" out into my own groove and I hardly even knew I was doing it.

Joy, he is a very pleasant Santa and I love the rich color used on his robe.

I thought this looked familiar! Isn't he selling on Ebay?!!

You did a great job on him, Joy, don't feel bad about being inspired by others' work; that's how many of us start out. We learn from each other and grow from there.

Nancy, a compliment from you is high praise indeed. Your Santa's are fabulous! Only in my dreams will I ever be that good.

Thor and Jillsy, I really appreciate your comments and words of encouragement, too. It means a whole lot coming from you guys. And yes, Jillsy, that little Santa is for sale on Ebay right now. I've got so many of them sitting around, I decided to try and sell one or two. I can always use the money to buy more wood!

Thanks again,

Joy

Joy - remember that hundreds and hundreds of people are reading this site. Tell us and them about an eBay item.
If you give us the item # or your seller name some of us can find it.
What's that URL? Please and thanks.

Nancy, I wasn't for sure if it was proper to mention my Santa was for sale on Ebay. I'm tickled that y'all don't mind. The link is: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...8204&rd=1&rd=1

Thanks again for all the nice comments.
