Nice work Nancy. Â*Super painting. Â*Really like the winter scene on santa.

Callynne, your work is wonderful. Â*And did you say you are just starting? Â*I see a great future ahead.

Bette

P.S. Â*I posted the last things that I finished today.

Bette, I just LOVE that zebra santa!!!! He's wonderful!!! The ornaments are cool - do you sell your work in store(s) or only online?

I've added some of my most recent santas to my homepage http://hometown.aol.com/santacarvinlady/santas.html

To all the Santa carver's.
Help my kitchen table looks like a mess, it is loaded down with Santas and ornaments,oh my!! We have a nice shop to work in, but somehow it always ends up in the kitchen. Unless a cat runs off with one then they are under the couch.
Thanks for the painting break Michele

Cat Problem,
Tony loves to lay on my apron, and major attitude if it is not just perfect. Frankie loves to grab the heads or hands, he leaves the boots alone. I think I need a Cat Shrink.
Or the economy pouch of Pounce Treats

Thank you Brian, I agree with Nancy, just keep carving. You WILL get better and better! And don't be afraid to ask questions, you will get some really great advice from people who know what they are talking about here on this bullentin board. I sure have!
Yes Bette, I will have been carving for two years come Christmas. I sure hope you're right about having a great future, I love carving so much! After checking out your website I'm very flattered that you think so! Thank you both for the kind words! Callynne

Yes, Teri, I do sell my work at a gallery...would you believe Folkworks? Â*(Thanks to Nancy!) Â*And I have just been doing some scouting for other places to sell my work. Â*I have come up with what I hope will be 3 places in northern Michigan. Â*I left a business card with one store owner on Sunday, and will start working on a few peices for another to 'try' selling this week. Â*I am not very good promoting myself, but maybe it is 'time!'

I just checked out your web page. Â*Wonderful!! Â*Can someone learn to paint like you do? Â*Carving seems so easy in comparison to painting!

And thanks for the compliments on my zebra santa and ornaments.
Bette

hey Honeyville welcome aboard,

Most stick carvers I know recomend starting with Tom Wolf's books. He has a few out on canes and sticks.

As far as how this system works you seem to be doing pretty well already... there are some of us that can't even log in... : :P You may have noticed you replyed to a mesage thread and that's cool. But generally if you want to ask a new question it's better to start a new thread. Just pick the appropriate category and somewhere around the screen it should say 'post a new message' Good luck.

Dave
