Default New carving of Santa Claus

I carved a new Santa. I titled it (tentative) "Reposing Santa" because, well - that's what he appears to be doing. Not sure if that is the correct term. Anyway......

As I look through the holiday theme carvings, and santas, I find that all of them are so unique and individual. I was looking for inspiration and ideas, and found so much going on that now I'm kind of stimied. The little repose santa is so cool. His expression shows more detail and the paint on him is so carefully done. I'm impressed. I hope to get my attempts at Santa's to look half so good.

Great carving, Mitch, with a wonderful expression........Repose???? I thought thate referred to lying down, reclining or relaxing. The room in the funeral homes where the bodies are laid out used to be called "reposing rooms"

He looks more "pondering" or thoughtfully considering something profound! Either way, an exceptional carving!

Mitch, nice job. As i was looking at the pics I was wondering what he was doing with his hand behind his back, until i clicked on I thought he'd have it in his back pocket, nice touch, kept me thinking.

Thanks all. I tried to carve him with an expression of weariness - and relief. I really haven't titled it yet (not "officially") but the "repose" might fit that expression. My original plan was to put both hands in his pockets, but there was a bad spot in the wood.....hence the hand behind his back!
