Nice job! I love how you developed the roughout.

Look forward to seeing more. Oh yeah, I understand about pets eating carvings - I had another feather carving ready to paint and my dog ate it! All that was left was the area holding the pin - sheesh!

Thanks all ,

I have to say I really wish I had done something like this sooner. It really gives me a chance to play with designs and cuts which takes so long comming from the square.

I will have to go se Goody again soon as I really want to play with some of the clothing, motion which I am being a bit restriced with right now. But I finished one with a double cape and I really like the way it came out.

More wood more wood . I have two to finish for the 10 and then have to go finish the staff , but this really has been a lot of learing .

Ash

Thumbs up Re: From my roughout

Very nice Ash, this by far is my most favorite of your carvings. As far as painting gos you should check out Mark Garac's painting tutorial, it basically the same one I use and to me very easy.

But I also like the natural look too.

MelNm,

I can paint, I just don't like to. I love natural finishes that enhance the wood. I am always amazed at what a simple oil can bring out of a piece of wood .

I have looked and read about Mark's painting style. And to be honest I have some of his carvings to see his finishes. I have some other really nice carvings well painted and I am trying to get Anna to do a class .

I am glad you like the Santa's ...

I hope those that receive them do as well .

Ash

Ash, these are beautiful! I love the long flowing robes. Looks like you've been getting those special classes from Goody after all...and you didn't even have to wear a skirt!
