Default My First Santa..

This is the santa Gene did in his video lesson. I am ok with it...especially the face but the hood doesn't set around the head right. Overall it turned out ok. Will paint it up next. Thanks Gene for the video!

Corey,

Fantastic start, looks very good, don't worry about the hood, you'll correct it on the next one. Looked at your site, nice turnings too. Bill

Great way to start, Corey,
My first santa was a sad little fella. You've made a great start--like all the others have said--keep this one to look back on after you've carved 6-8 more and you'll be amazed. After you finish one, reflect on what you should have done differently, what might look better if you'd done this or that...and learn from it. Getting motion into a carving is important--it may be eyes looking off to the side, bending arms, having a foot sticking out, fabric fold or flow...but that comes with practice, too.

Thanks for showing us your first santa. Now tell yourself what you'd change besides the hood--and why. We'll look forward to seeing the painted santa.

Donna

I got up this morning and decided to cave another one just for the heck of it. I don't like it as well as the first but it was fun. I painted this one up to see what the colors I had in mind look like.
