Default My First Christmas Ornament

I had some free time this weekend and I carved my first ornament of Santa's Elf holding a Chistmas puppy. I used the Beginner's kit that I bought from Rick and Theresa at Little Shavers recently. I had a blast doing this. Thanks Rick and Theresa--and yes, now I TOO know what sharp is. LOL

Bob

P.S. Sorry the pic isn't clearer--the ornament is only 2 1/2"X3 3/4"--kinda hard to zoom in on and get focused on.

Oh man, BOB!
You trying to make us look like slackers? Trying to beat the rush?

The carving is a cutie and very well done. Good job. And it's a great reminder that Christmas is only six months away! Thanks for sharing.

Red face Re: My First Christmas Ornament

Wow! To be called a wood carver is one thing, but to be called a carver by pros, well that's great. Your compliments have made my day! Thank you.

I have wanted to try different types of carving--and I got the idea fro carving ornaments from Rick, and well, the new tools were there, the idea, and the wood--so I just put 'em together, and I got lucky and had half way decent results. I know I'm not a pro, but I guess as Kenny says, "I'm on my way."

Thanks again.

Bob

You sure are on your way you are doing great it must be those sharp knifes from Rick. Funny how a sharp knife or gouge makes you a better carver. Keep up the great work we are looking forward to seeing more. Sorry but it much too soon to think about Christmas. Here in Canada we have 8 months of winter and these four months of bad snowboarding.

Watch out you will be doing santas in the round next. As far as being called a wood carver, as long as you enjoy making as much as a wood chip your a carver.

Wow! Now I can see why you guys carve so much--it's the wonderful compliments you get! Nice--VERY nice to hear them! Thank you!!

Yep--Colin, nothing like them sharp tools from Rick--makes me want to stop making my own--well, almost! LOL I'm almost done. I just poly-wiped the handles tonight and then I sand and Poly-wipe them again--2 more times. That'll keep em for a long time. Then I have to put the finishing touches on the business end of the tools.

Goody--I hear what ya sayin' about carving them Santas--but ya know I don't want to mess with takin' business away from Callynne. I mean she's only a stone's throw from me over there on the other side of the Delaware. She's liable to come over here and teach me a lesson!

COFFEMAN! A WHOLE TREE FULL?!?! That's a heap of carving--and I just may take you up on that fine idea. (Beats untangling them lights!) I wonder if Rick'll be able to keep up with all the sharpening though? LOL

Thanks again. I look forward to posting a pic of my next carving--hopefully real soon!

Bob
