| | Maple Snowman Today one of my woodshop class students created this little snowman on the mini-lathe. At only 15 years old I thought that he did an amazing job and was quite the celebrity on campus today. Says that he's gonna give it to his grandmother for Christmas.
Actually it was quite simple and only took about 45 minutes to completely finish. I've begun turning a few myself for Christmas presents this afternoon... quick, easy, and everybody likes 'em! What more can you ask for?
PS: Sorry to be away from the board so long but I tend to come 'n go in "waves". Too much traveling, family situations, and oh yeah, that darn full-time job! I began lurking again a couple of weeks ago and just couldn't resist jumping back into the middle of all the fun! |

| | Re: Maple Snowman That's adorable! If he keeps it up, can you imagine how good he'll be in 20 years? And he'll still be even younger than most of us are now (even me! heehee!)

| | Re: Maple Snowman I will most definitely pass on all the encouragement to the student known as Brandon. He's become quite the star around here, and he was my "student of the session" back in September and this is just one of the reasons why. |

| | Re: Maple Snowman For the sake of the archive's (and a nice project) I thought that I'd put up a couple more picture's which show another version of the snowman which was developed by another student who speaks good English & Spanish.
This snowman has for a hat what is referred to in Spanish as a "sombrero" and a word which the student taught the teacher! Berny also made him on the mini-lathe as a Christmas present for a family member as they've become quite popular here.
I also made one for several of my own family members as Christmas presents and all those who didn't get one are sure expecting one next year. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
