Is that a mirror I see off to the right!? Smile You certainly look like you are enjoying yourself. Just think of all the joy and happiness that your Santa's have brought over the years. The 25+ that you were kind enough to supply our little group with, have certainly been a hit. Great idea my friend, a splendid idea. Of course, only a real Santa could come up with an idea like that!

What I wouldnt give to come sit next to that table to watch and learn. WOW.

Umm.. Decoycarve... is it mandatory to have so many drawers full of goodies like you have? I dont have any drawers yet... is this something I'm going to have to invest in? And those gauges and knives.... *deep sigh of envy*

Do you listen to the radio or tv while working?

Goody, I forgot to ask in the first reply. I was admiring your tool chest, is it something you made yourself or a purchase? Beautiful work, whoever did it. What kind of wood is it made from?

Oh Goody,
No wonder your Santas look so real! Great photo. Great carving shop setup. Tell Anna thanks for giving us a glimpse of your "technique" and it sure gives all of us things to add to our Christmas wish list.

The chest was a christmas present about 8 years ago. The price club had these in for $395 for all three pieces. I thought it was too cheap and started to inspect it. I was surprised to find it was made from all oak all the drawers are dovetailed and its sturdy as can be.

As far as all the tools I have aquired over the years a lot of them has come from estate sales. I do some restoration work for a couple of antique shops. They go to a lot of estate sales and told me they always see woodworking equipment. They have brought me boxes of chisels for $25 one box had full set of staubi chisels in it in wooden storage box. I told the antique shop just one of the chisels is worth the $25. Another person that frequents my shop is a profesional pac rat. He gets up at 4:00 am and hits all the yard sales and flea markets. I am surprised what he brings over the shop and the prices he gets stuff for. I have traded him decoys for some really nice knives and chisels. He also brings me alot of spokeshaves and draw knives. I have one old spokeshave that the blade is held in with leather plugs. I sharpened this spokeshave and adjusted everything in. This is one of my favorite tools. It cuts like butter. When you are pulling dowm a piece for a staff the wood just comes off in a continuos curl. It just feels good all the way up your arms to feel and hear the wood peel like that. I have new modern tools that don't work as well as this one.
