Default A little different

Took a break from carving Santas and did a stylized Angel for a friend's wife. She's into Angels and this is a standing yearly commission. I usually don't do stylized carvings, but thought I'd try it. Comments always welcome!

Well Steve if this is how you "try it", I think you have it down pat my friend. Very fine carving indeed.

Fly fisher, the Basswood Angel is about 8" high by 6 1/2' at the widest span of the wings. BLO basecoat with acrylics.

The proportions are excellent, the face isn't necessary. The finish looks like it would feel "warm."
I hope you can scrape up the time to do more than one a year!

I like it. The BLO really makes the basswood pop, and you put just enough paint on it to make it very interesting.

I really like the gold, flesh color, against the natural. It works very nicely!

Thanks Steve, Would you mind if i copied it because i've got a friend who likes this sort of thing? My one would only be about 1 1/2 inches high and might do it in bone.
