Default Hillbilly Nut Cracker

Most every year at this time I carve alot of Christmas ornaments and most times out of different types of wood. Most times I slice some tree branches and relief carve some from them plus like last year,I buy at the $1.00 store or one of them that every thing in the store cost $1.00 for 4 wooden spoons, they are cheap but carve easy. Plus have carved them from the hanging cedar blocks you hang in your closet for the winter for moths.

Heres one I carved this morning plus some picts of my tree branch ones from last year, wont be carving them this year, just quick and easy ones like the spoon ornament.

Your thoughts or comments are always welcome.

Thks Forrest

Hey, Forrest, those are really neat. That's a great idea buying those dollar store spoons for carving. I gotta try that. You're carving gangbusters, ol' friend, thanks for sharing.

Big Ed.gangbuster?? I use to be in a gang, but kelp forgetting all the hands signs like the kids now days do,Id get my toys in the woods, tin cans for cars and clothes pins were my little people. They named me right for I stayed in the wood when I was a young.

Id ask my grandmother could I use her Ole Hickory butcher knive to cut me some sticks alot? Ok but you sharp it right back! She knew my grandfather when he got in from work at the table during supper would use that old knive and he would know if it wasnt sharp, He would known also she had given it to me and made it hard on me. He was a tough old man but my grandmother still was the boss.

You know its good living in the country but too learning the city ways also. God have I learned so much in my life,I sure would hate haven to go back through several things in it again! but i would....lol

Thanks Ed for your nice thoughts here and shoot yea,buy you some of the spoons and carve. Get you some of the closet cedar hangers also, I cant find them this year up here! Theres alot of room on them to carve.
