| | Goody's Blank!! Goody here is what I have done with your blank you sent me. It took me 2 days to feel my way through it so far. Let me know what you think it needs as I can't see it to tell. By the way I hear you had another birthday sneak up on you. Birthday!! Ron |

Paint!!!
Like the split skirt in the back never done that on one. I would love to sit down and carve with you for a day. Maybe one day when these knees are feeling a bit better Im going to have to jump on the bike and head up that way. As far as birthdays each one for the past few years has hurt more than the last. Not looking forward to more aches but not ready for the dirt nap either.
Nice Santa,
Goody

| | Re: Goody's Blank!! I will have to leave the paint to someone other than me. I haven't tried to tackle painting totally blind. Might be interesting though. Would love to spend the day carving with you also. The split skirt in the back was a mistake. I lost track of the front for a minute. |

Great job on the Santa. I love the fact that you lost track of the front. It adds a great story to your carving. You turned your "mistake" into a real successful part of the carving. Good face too!

| | Re: Goody's Blank!! Hi Ron Your Santa carving looks great! I know Goody and Anna were kind enough to offer to paint it of you. But other alternatives would be to leave it natural, stain it, or oil it--and/or highlight with a small amount of painting, i.e a sprig of holly on the hat, etc. It goes much quicker and with less hassles than a full paint job. This way everybody can see what a talented carver you are! Me personally, I love seeing the "carver's marks" on the carving. Sometimes, I think paint takes the observer's eyes away from the true beauty of a carving. But we all have our preferences... |

| | Re: Goody's Blank!! another outstanding job my friend.Keep it up. JustCarving had a good suggestion in leaving it natural. Put a semi gloss finish on it and Whoa! You be done with it. Goody and Anna, Thank you from me for offering to help Ron out. That is a sign of some special people. |

| | Re: Goody's Blank!! Goody threw me kind of a challenge. So after I get done butchering these cane segments I am going to figure a way I can paint it. All I can do is try and it will add to the story like the split in the back. Ron | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
